Launch day

A very busy couple of days

Just a few days to go before the move and SHENSI gets a final going over.

Thursday saw us make a long trek from Southampton with two cars fully loaded. The traffic was so busy that we lost touch with each other within a couple of hundred yards. We drove to the Harleyford marina as this would be our destination after the launch. There we left the largest vehicle with most of the gear in it, and then we headed off to Caversham in the other car. Carversham marina is the only local marina that can handle a boat of this size, so the objective was to launch it, do the initial checks, fuel it up and then spend the night there.

We went to a cafe to wait for the boat to come through on the low loader and did not have too long to wait either, in fact in the end it came through so quickly we were

Just in time to see SHENSI crossing Caversham bridge, one she would pass under many times in the future.

Finally arriving at the boat lift.

Scarry. In the water at least. Are there going to be any leaks? Will it be stable and even and worse still, now what? How can we move it? I’ve no idea what to do.

Our support crew look on quietly.
