Almost there

1st June saw Shensi finally returned to the water with her new paintwork all completed and looking very smart. The dogs were much happier not having to climb up and down the long flight of steps every time they needed to go out, although our new mooring was alongside another barge so they did have to climb across that to access land. Casper was fine from the start, Pip not so much for the first few days!

Lucy flew over to join us for a few days at the start of June, and we duly drove up to Schiphol airport to collect her. It was lovely to see her but the arrival was marred by Nicki putting her phone on top of the car to greet Lucy and then forgetting it until an hour into our return journey. Sadly the phone was never found, but even worse was the loss of the other contents of the phone case – namely her bank card and her NL residency permit, which resulted in all sorts of difficulty.

We didn’t do too much with Lucy, just some dog walks and visits to Harlingen and Leeuwarden, but she had primarily come to dog snuggle for the four days she was with us, so seemed quite content.

Happily, June saw an increase in activity in the engine room, until finally everything was finished and on 8th June we were able to leave the yard after seven weeks of incarceration at SRF.
